The Bat of Shaelyn Grant and Pitching of Thayda Houser Help Soar Golden Eagles to Sweep of Wayne State College

Minnesota Crookston softball earned their first sweep of the conference season on Saturday afternoon against Wayne State College in a doubleheader in Crookston.Minnesota Crookston used dominant pitching from Thayda Houser (Sr., P, Seymour, Iowa), who earned two wins in the circle on the day and catapulted the Golden Eagles to a pair of 3-0 and 8-2 victories.With the sweep, the Golden Eagles moved to 11-29 (4-12 NSIC) on the season.Game OneThe Golden Eagles and Wildcats would see a pitching duel in the first two innings, as neither team would cross home plate.The Golden Eagles would break through in the bottom of the third, as Shaelyn Grant (Sr., C/OF, Grand Junction, Colo.) would hit her team leading ninth home run of the season, scoring Whitnee Curry (Jr., MIF/OF, Lincoln, Neb.) for a 2-0 lead.In the bottom of the fourth, the Golden Eagles would add another run.

Crookston speech sends four to sectionals

Crookston Speech competed in the Subsection 30A tournament at DGF on Tuesday, with four students advancing to sections.Brandon Wandrie competed in original oratory and won 1st place, Lily Olmstead competed in storytelling and won 2nd place, and Shayla Azure and Zac Plante competed in duo interpretation and won 3rd place.Other students competing included: Ciaran Mulvey receiving 5th place in prose, John Lisov receiving 5th place in humor, Jaden Newquist receiving 7th place in drama, and Ivan luckow receiving 7th place in discussion.Advancers will now plan to compete in the Section 8A tournament in Fosston on April 11th.

Question: I am puzzled as to why seat belts are mandatory in vehicles along with a fine for not complying but our precious cargo in school buses are not required to wear them?
