Teddy Bear Clinic back at RiverView Health

The Teddy Bear Clinic was back in person at RiverView Health In collaboration, ECFE and RiverView Health invited children ages birth to 5 to bring their teddy bears and their parents to come tour the new building and explore the therapy department, the ambulance, radiology department and an inpatient room. Children were given a book about going to the doctor as they left. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible.

Polk County to receive Opioid Settlement Dollars

Polk County Public Health now seeking Advisory Council applications Over the last year, Polk County Public Health Director Sarah Reese has served on the Minnesota Attorney General’s Advisory Panel for the Opioid Settlement and Distribution. This summer, Governor Tim Walz signed a bill that will direct how the state will spend its more than $300 million opioid lawsuit settlement aimed at funding the fight against opioid addiction and overdose deaths.

Mitten Tree at RiverView Health

RiverView Health Auxiliary will be holding a Mitten Drive in the form of a Mitten Tree November 1st through November 30th. The Mitten Tree will be located in front of the Limited Addition Gift Shop at RiverView Health. The public is invited to “trim” the tree with their donations of new children’s winter mittens, gloves or hats. Please no scarves. The mittens, gloves and hats received will be distributed in early December to the area schools and given to children who need them. RiverView Health Auxiliary thanks you for your support in warming hearts and hands this season through this important service project.

Chamber Ambassadors stop at Irishman’s Shanty to congratulate Andy Gregg, new owner

To say that the Irishman’s Shanty has been a force of nature and a staple in the Crookston Community is an understatement. As Paul Gregg, proudly talked about the ownership history of the Irishman’s Shanty, he recalled a few conversations he had with Andy, one specifically telling Andy, “I want you to be the person here.”

Julie Gumlia Marvel’s love of sports is clear in even her earliest memories. “I grew up in a close-knit family, we loved to play and watch all sports together especially golf, says Julie of her childhood in Crookston, Minnesota (located about 20 miles from the North Dakota border) and summers spent at her grandmother’s cottage in Bemidji, a lakes area in northwestern Minnesota near the headwaters of the Mississippi River.
