It is with regret that CherryRoad Media announces the closing of The Crookston Times

Our company is dedicated to the preservation of community journalism. Since the purchase of our 1st paper in late-2020 to today, we have prided ourselves on our ability to fight the difficult battle that newspapers face in today’s digital society. Unfortunately, that battle cannot always be won.

The Crookston Times has struggled in recent years to find its footing in this community. Since purchasing The Crookston Times, CherryRoad Media has been unable to avoid financial losses every month. The paper was losing money when we bought it, and it continued to do so. We must now come to terms with the fact that we do not have a path forward to sustainability.

And we thank those who have supported us.

The Crookston Area Chamber Ambassadors gathered to recognize and congratulate a very exceptional businesses in the Crookston community, El Gordito, an authentic Mexican restaurant. Julia Mejia, co-owner, greeted the ambassadors with a smile, and a very important question, “hard shell of soft shell?”Following the photo for the news release, she got down to what she does best, delivering delicious dishes.

$34 Million Donated During Annual Give to the Max Day Campaign

Tens of thousands of donors gave back to 6,439 nonprofits and schools during Minnesota's giving holiday Tens of thousands of donors gave more than $34 million to 6,439 organizations during Give to the Max Day yesterday, the 14th statewide annual giving campaign for Minnesota nonprofits and schools. This year's giving total came in just shy of last year's $34.3 million for 6,457 organizations, an all-time record.

Altru is encouraging everyone to get vaccinated for influenza before the holidays.
