Whitney Place appointed Farm Service Agency Executive Director

Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) Assistant Commissioner Whitney Place has been appointed to serve as the Executive Director of the USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) Minnesota office. Place has been with the MDA since 2012, serving in multiple capacities. In her new post she will oversee operations and agriculture policy implementation in Minnesota.

Fournet Building update

The Fournet Building's renovations on the second and third floors are nearing completion and owner Jeff Evers tells the Times the elevator will be installed in April which gives Tri-Valley Opportunity Council, Inc. the green light to start moving in.

CHEDA looking to connect with Chickadee Coffee over loans

New Crookston Housing & Economic Development Authority (CHEDA) director Robert Barnes said one of the first items he was asked to address when he arrived was the former coffee shop on University Avenue and the loan(s) that Chickadee Coffee had through CHEDA, he told the board at their January meeting. Barnes mentioned that the board never took action to forgive the loans or collect proceeds from the loans, and some of the collateral (property) from the former business may or may not still be in the building they were using to store it so he needed some direction.

CHEDA board gets request from Prairie Skyline on old Cathedral

Crookston Housing & Economic Development Authority had their first official meeting of 2022 and elected new officers including Board President Dylane Klatt, Vice President Kristie Jerde, Treasurer Don Cavalier and Secretary Theresa Tahran. From their main agenda, they accepted the subordination of two loans for the Fournet Building with developer Jeff Evers, considered a request from Prairie Skyline Foundation for the old Cathedral project and considered action on Chickadee Coffee's outstanding loans.
