RiverView Auxiliary members do so much to enhance the exceptional care given at RiverView Health. From running the very popular Limited Addition Gift Shop to keeping employees and visitors fed through healthy snacks in the vending machines, Auxiliary members make RiverView Health a better place. One Auxiliary member, in particular, was recently recognized for her volunteerism. That volunteer is Nancy Capistran, awarded the Alta Hermodson Heart and Soul Award for her dedication to the Auxiliary and RiverView.

Dear Amy: I’ve been dating a married woman for seven months. She told me many times that she and her husband are trying to split amicably, but they have two children, so leaving was not an option. She said she is in an open marriage.

Students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade at Our Savior’s Lutheran School participated in the American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge in February. To celebrate reaching the fundraising goal of raising at least $1,500 for the American Heart Association, the teachers participated in EGG ROULETTE! Cathedral School first grade students celebrate “I Love to Read” month with Royal Readers. Each child has a day to be King or Queen, sit in the Royal Chair and read a story to their court. SUBMITTED

During the beginning of February, students at Washington Elementary School collected pennies, quarters, dimes and nickels to "Feed the Bear" in support of The United Way of Crookston. Preschool and kindergarten students were welcome to drop their coins into the bear-shaped containers each day throughout the two week period.

Disabled American Veteran Crookston Chapter 14 was recently presented with a 75-year charter plaque from DAV National. The University of Minnesota Crookston will be hosting two winter volleyball camps February 27 and March 27 for girls and boys grades 12 and under. Golden Eagles Head Coach Sarah Morgan, Assistant Coach Nick Meseck and the Golden Eagles volleyball players will be on-hand to teach fundamentals. All skill levels are welcome.
