It is with regret that CherryRoad Media announces the closing of The Crookston Times

Our company is dedicated to the preservation of community journalism. Since the purchase of our 1st paper in late-2020 to today, we have prided ourselves on our ability to fight the difficult battle that newspapers face in today’s digital society. Unfortunately, that battle cannot always be won.

The Crookston Times has struggled in recent years to find its footing in this community. Since purchasing The Crookston Times, CherryRoad Media has been unable to avoid financial losses every month. The paper was losing money when we bought it, and it continued to do so. We must now come to terms with the fact that we do not have a path forward to sustainability.

And we thank those who have supported us.

City administrator finalists named

Four finalists have been named in the search for a new city administrator for the City of Crookston. Interviews will be held the first week in May and a public meet and greet is planned.

CHS Woods students upscale school entrance table

One of the first things you see when you walk through the doors of Crookston High School is the folding table that volunteers sit at to take tickets, welcome guests, offer hand sanitizer or house fliers about events that are happening that day. What was once something basic has now been beautified by CHS Woods students Erik Coauette and Mason Owens, and a few others.

UMN Crookston hosts audience-involved murder mystery event

The University of Minnesota Crookston Music-Theater Department presented “Who Murdered My Sweetheart”, written and directed by Paul Warshauer, on April 8 and April 9 in Kiehle Auditorium. Crookston Community Pool closed until April 19

The Crookston Parks and Recreation Department will be extending the closure of the Crookston Community Pool as they recently found more issues that need to be resolved for the public’s safety. They plan to reopen the pool on April 19, 2022.

NEW YORK (AP) — Cincinnati Reds outfielder Brian Rey and Minnesota pitcher Ricardo Velez were suspended for 80 games each Friday following positive tests under the minor leage drug program. Rey, on the roter of the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts, tested positive for the performance-en hancing subtstance GW501516, the commissioner's office said.
