City Council approves detachment of parcel, discusses clean-up week

At their May 23 meeting, Crookston City Council approved the detachment of a certain portion of land parcel to the Biermaier Family Limited Liability Partnership after the LLP petitioned for the release due to the city "charging taxes on a property for which they provide no services, is rural in nature, and has a natural boundary of the Red Lake River." City ordinances/codes cause "unnecessary" restrictions on this property that limit hunting, trapping, forestry recreation, etc.", the petition added.

CHEDA news: AIC road design, Chickadee Coffee litigation, B3 grant approvals

Crookston Housing & Economic Development Authority (CHEDA) board of directors discussed and took action on a number of items at their May 17 meeting including approving reimbursement to the city for the design of the road near the upcoming Ag Innovation Campus (AIC), commencing with litigation against Chickadee Coffee owner Jerry Snow, approving two B3 grants, approving of a public hearing for the sale of 1603 Hoven Lane and approving of a public hearing for the sale of a parcel in the industrial park, plus they approved of advertising for a new executive director and discussed the process for how the board approves bill payments.

Class of 2022 graduates who attended Cathedral School recognized

Cathedral School in Crookston recognizes their former students graduating from high school in 2022: - Blaine Andringa: Blaine will be attending North Dakota State University for architecture. "Cathedral was fun and I think back and only have good memories." - Alex Kozitka: Alex will be attending University of Minnesota Crookston to major in social work.

School Board selects Dave Kuehn as interim superintendent

After a review of a number of applications for the interim superintendent position for Crookston School District, the school board selected Dave Kuehn to fill the spot during a special meeting at the district office. Kuehn was most recently the superintendent for Underwood, worked as assistant principal at Waconia High School and taught in Crookston for 20+ years.
