Shirley Rick was recently selected as the Improve Dee Excellence Award (IDEA) winner for the 1st quarter, 2022. Rick works in the Core Department at Dee Manufacturing and won the award for her suggestion to remove clumped core sand from core machine hoppers.

Local libraries are inviting audiences of all ages to go under the sea with accordion player Mike Schneider in an ocean-themed polka-palooza! Polka enthusiasts will enjoy clapping and singing along to the music in this interactive program which will also include magic, comedy and trivia. These programs are geared toward children ages 6-11 and will last approximately 45 minutes.

Kim Volker is a busy RN on RiverView's Inpatient Unit. She works with patients on the Medical/Surgical/ Pediatrics, Obstetrics (OB), and Intensive Care Units. She's credited with staying with her OB patients beyond her shift to see them through their delivery, doing a great job training other nurses, and adding spice to the team. For all of these reasons and more, Kim was recently named RiverView's Employee of the Month for April.

United Way of Crookston is thrilled to announce the return of the Hugo’s/United Way Golf Tourney at Minakwa on Thursday, June 23. After two years away, we will be back to play, eat, raffle and give stuff away, all for a great cause.

An accident was reported June 7 at 10:57 p.m. at the 1400 block of North Front Street where it was discovered that a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Seth Volker of Crookston, had rear-ended a 2017 Ford transit van, legally parked, owned by Absolute Refrigeration/Michael Parkin of Crookston. The initial collision then caused the transit van to push into a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, legally parked, owned by Michael Parkin of Crookston.

Question: I have noticed that some of the local express shuttle buses do not stop at railroad crossings. I thought all buses were supposed to stop before crossing railroad tracks. Can you talk about this?

The Golden Link Senior Center's kitchen will be closed June 20-24 as their new walk-in freezer/cooler will be installed, the center reported to the media. Their kitchen will not be open for breakfast, lunch, or Thursday night meals that week.
