Northwest Minnesota COC Opens Annual RFP For Projects Aimed at Addressing Homelessness throughout the Region

Submitted August 8th, 2022 (Bemidji, MN) – The Northwest Minnesota Continuum of Care is now accepting applications for the 2022 annual Notice of Funding Opportunity for the CoC Program Competition, as well as the 2022 Supplemental Notice of Funding Opportunity to Address Rural and Unsheltered Homelessness. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, governmental entities, and public housing agencies with projects aimed at addressing homelessness in the region.

First In-Person NAMIWalks in Two Years to Raise Awareness About Mental Illnesses

Submitted The 16th annual NAMIWalks Minnesota, a 5K walk to raise awareness about mental illnesses and celebrate hope, is set for Saturday, September 24, at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis. NAMIWalks supports the efforts of NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to provide education, support, and advocacy for children and adults with mental illnesses and their families.

Team Soybean! program geared toward Minnesota FFA chapters and farmers alike

UMN Extension Submitted Crookston, MN. (August 4, 2022) - The University of Minnesota Extension is excited to announce that up to 42 Minnesota FFA chapters can join Team Soybean! Participating chapters will receive a complimentary soybean cyst nematode (SCN) soil sampling kit, learn valuable skills and help Minnesota soybean producers - all while having fun! This program, sponsored by the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, will introduce the next generationof crop producers and ag service providers to SCN, a microscopic worm that both parasitizes soybean roots and is the most yield limiting pathogen of soybean.

Local organization donating soy-based shoes to frontline health care workers MN Soybean County Submitted CROOKSTON – From farm to frontline, the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (MSR&PC) is taking another giant leap forward to highlight environmentally friendly investments from the soybean checkoff. Polk County, in partnership with MSR&PC, which directs the state’s soybean checkoff resources, is launching the Stepping Up campaign to amplify farmer profitability and promote the value-added uses of the “miracle bean” while making community connections.

Fertile Library to Host Book Club on August 17, Wellness Presentation on August 24

Kids at Castle – Paddle at Castle!

Submitted by Amanda Lien Polk County Public Health Transform an ordinary day into an extraordinary adventure at this month’s Kids at Castle: Paddle at Castle! On August 8th, in a celebration of water and the wonderful things all around us, Kids at Castle will feature a paddle event with the International Water Institute (IWI), a Treasure Hunt, water activities and a new featured story on the Story Trail. The IWI will provide dryland water safety, life jackets, a paddling overview and short kayak trips of 10-15 minutes on the Red Lake River.
