As a result of a recently occurring water main break on the Transmission line into the City of Crookston, which is currently being repaired, the City of Crookston is asking and encouraging all citizens to make every effort to reduce water consumption until further notice. At this moment in time, conservation of water is critical. The City of Crookston thanks you for your cooperation.

U of M Extension to host webinar series for cattle owners with a day job

The University of Minnesota Extension is excited to host a threepart webinar series titled: Essentials for the cattle owner with a day job. Zoom meetings will be held on Thursday, November 3, 10 and 17 from 8 to 9 p.m. CST. The webinar series will focus on topics designed to help cattle owners that have obligations other than cattle such as an off the farm job or crop farming. Farmers, 4-H members, ag business professionals who work with farmers, and those interested in beef cows are invited to attend.

UMN Crookston announces groundbreaking skills training series ‘Rural Leadership and Success’

Through a partnership with Rotary Club of Crookston, Minnesota’s Polk County, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), and CareerForce, the University of Minnesota Crookston will soon offer groundbreaking skills training to help develop the next generation of professionals. The course series entitled “Rural Leadership and Success” is intended for students who are currently in the workforce and may have had some previous higher education experience. The initiative’s pathway is aimed at personal development, communication skills, and leadership techniques that can lead to a certificate or into a four-year degree.

The Crookston Police Department has received a report regarding scam rental homes being available in Crookston. The rental home in Crookston was a home that is or was for sale and wheninquired about the scammer stated the home is no longer for sale and thereis no need to call the realtor.

Northern Valley Youth Orchestra to perform in November

Northern Valley Youth Orchestras presents a concert on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 4 pm in the Empire Arts Center, downtown Grand Forks. As part of NVYO’s 12th season, “Elements,” the two NVYO student symphony orchestras will present a variety of descriptive and dramatic works, highlighting the different instruments and other elements of symphonic music. Tickets are available at the door, general admission with a suggested minimum contribution of $5; audience members are invited to pay whatever they can. HB Sound and Light will provide lighting effects and record the performance for later viewing.
