Bergeron named spring law scholarship winner

Brink Lawyers PA recently announced that Brooke Bergeron of Crookston is the winner of the Spring 2022 Brink Laywers University of North Dakota Law Scholarship. Bergeron is a second-year law student at the UND School of Law and currently serves as President of the Rural Practice Association, Treasurer of the Law Women’s Caucus, and is a member of the Criminal Law Association and Phi Delta Phi (International Legal Honor Society.)

Diverse travelers offer invitation for ADVENTURE

Vanessa Fondeur-Adams is always on the lookout when she travels. • “I always try to have my ears wide open to see if I hear Spanish or if I hear an accent,” said the Dominican American founder of Latino World Travelers, an online community with more than 5,000 members. “Most of the time, I don’t find anyone ... nobody Latino at all.” • Sally Elbassir knows what that’s like as a food and travel content creator with Egyptian and Sudanese roots. • “In my travels, I have been so surprised to find how little people know about Islam, but also sometimes I’ll be one of the first, if not the first Muslim person they’ve encountered,” she said.

Gardening author, expert Eric Bergeson to present virtually on March 8

Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL) will host a virtual Q&A session with gardening expert and author Eric Bergeson on Tuesday, March 8 at 7 p.m. Eric is the author of “Let’s Grow on the Northern Prairie,” which is a pictorial companion to his popular book “Successful Gardening on the Northern Plains.” He will share from his books as well as some of the gardening wisdom he’s collected from friends and family over the years.

Washington School kindergartners celebrate Pirate Pride

Washington School kindergartners celebrated Pirate Pride with a photo in their new Pirate Pride shirts. Washington and Highland School PTO groups contributed money to purchase a Pirate Pride shirt for each kindergarten student. With the effort of Lorri Capistran, a member of both schools' PTO groups, each child was able to order and receive a preferred shirt size. For several years, students at Washington School have received a Pirate Pride shirt that can continue to be worn as students move to 1st Grade at Highland School.
