Victims not yet identified
The driver of a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup and a passenger were both killed late Monday night in a head-on collision with a sugar beet truck on Minnesota Highway 9 north of Felton, Minn., the Minnesota State Patrol reports.
The identities of the two who were pronounced dead at the scene had not been released at press time Tuesday.
Patrick A. Moran, 55, of Waubun, Minn., who was northbound in a 1994 International 9200 tandem truck, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Essentia Hospital in Fargo.
The State Patrol says the crash was reported at 11:13 p.m. Monday. The report indicates that the Dakota was southbound on Highway 9 when it crossed the center line and hit the sugar beet truck head-on.
Moran was wearing his seat belt, the report states, which also indicates the beet truck was severely damaged and the pickup was totaled.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Felton Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Early Tuesday rollover
The Norman County Sheriff's office responded to a beet truck rollover early Tuesday approximately four miles west of Borup, Minn., which seriously injured the driver, whose name had not been released at press time Tuesday.
The rollover was reported around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday. The driver, operating a truck full of beets, was attempting to turn at Norman County Highway 39 when the truck rolled.
The NCSO states that the driver was first taken by ambulance to Essentia Health in Ada before being flown by air ambulance to a Fargo hospital.
