The University of Minnesota Crookston placed 16th of 16 teams at the 17th Annual Northeastern State University Golf Classic at the Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Okla. The Golden Eagles were led by Seth Heppner (Sr., Crookston, Minn.), who put together a strong showing with a 78, 75 and 75 as he finished tied for 31st.
In addition to Seth Heppner, Chris Cobler (Fr., Boise, Idaho) finished with an 80, 76 and 81. Ben Koisti (Fr., Lake Norden, S.D.) shot a 90, 87 and 84 on the tournament. T'mone Kleindl (So., Graceville, Minn.) turned in a 98, 92, and 83. Ricky Phillips (Jr., Grand Forks, N.D.) shot 84 in the first round, missed the second round due to illness and shot an 87 in the third round.
Henderson State University won the tournament with a combined score of 874, besting Southwestern Oklahoma State University by five strokes. Arkansas Tech University's Bryce Burke finished with a 72, 70 and 68 to finish with a score of 210, beating out Henderson State's Drew Greenwood and Harding University's Mason Banger by five strokes.
UMC will head to the St. Cloud State University Invite Sept. 27-28 in St. Cloud, Minn., as they head into the final two tournaments of the Fall season.
