‘Our Savior’s LWML Afternoon Guild met on Thursday, May 8th at RBJ’s for a noon Dutch lunch. Laurain Jurchen welcomed all followed by table grace, dining and fellowship. May birthday’s recognized were Susan Swenson, Jean Hoppe, Christine Worf and Laurain Jurchen and also the 62nd Anniversary of Earl and Patsy Abrahamson. Birthday greetings in song were sung to Laurain whose birthday is May 21st.
A brief business meeting was conducted by President Laurain. Correspondence was read from the family of Harold Trittin and Rob Lutz. Ladies attending the LWML Spring Rally at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River shared interesting highlights of the day. The afternoon guest speaker, Geneva Paulson, shared her experiences “Rescuing Randy” (rescuing her son from demonic cults). All agreed it was an awesome informative presentation and an eye opener.
President Laurain gave a brief overview of the events that have been planned by the committee thus far for the 125th Anniversary of Our Savior’s Lutheran which will be held on July 19th. She also reported on the progress of the cookbook being compiled in commemoration of the event.
On Baccalaureate Sunday, May 17th, the graduates, their families, teaching staff and Board of Education will be guests at a brunch served by the guild. Edie Danielson is chairman for the brunch assisted by guild ladies.
An offering was taken for the 36th Biennial LWML Convention - June 25-28 at DesMoines, IA.
Judy Ellingson was named to send cards in May and Bev Erdmann in June.
Ladies participated in a devotional “Spring Cleaning” lead by Judy Ellingson followed by the MITE gathering.
After the business meeting all present preceded to the UMC Kiehle Auditorium for the afternoon performance of “JONAH’S DRUTHERS” the Spring Musical presented by the students of Our Savior’s Day School. It was an outstanding performance.
The next meeting will be June 4th at the church. Planning & Remembering - 125th Anniversary will be on the agenda.
