As my final days of being a student at Crookston High School wind down and I move on to the University of Minnesota next year, I would like to express how thankful I am for the support and opportunities this community has given me.

As my final days of being a student at Crookston High School wind down and I move on to the University of Minnesota next year, I would like to express how thankful I am for the support and opportunities this community has given me.

CHS has given me a terrific high school experience.  The school has given me college-like experiences in the form of AP and College-in-the-High-School classes.  These have given me college-level classes and college credit, while not missing out on my memorable high school experiences.  The teachers of the advanced classes I took, Mrs. Thomforde, Mr. Sobolik, Mr. Hanson, Mrs. Alston, and Mr. Stegman have the knowledge of college professors and apply it in a high school setting.  They are excellent at pushing students to their full potential and put their students in great positions to pass their respective AP test, resulting in free college credits.

The staff of Crookston High School also genuinely cares about their students.  This is greatly personified by Mrs. Toni Grove.  I’ve only had Mrs. Grove for two years of my high school career, but she has impacted me tremendously and has implemented values of kindness, compassion, and hard work into my life.

The local Rotary and Lions Clubs have given me opportunities that have shaped my life.  The Rotary gave me the opportunity to attend RYLA, which was a life-changing week and the Lions Club, along with our advisor Linda Morgan, have supported our school’s Leo Club, which has showed me the importance of volunteering. It’s groups of people like these that impact the lives of youth and make growing up in a small community like Crookston so tremendous.

Our community’s news outlets have given great coverage to all of the events I have taken part in.  Whether it is football, basketball, student council, Leo Club, or awards banquets, the coverage Crookston’s youth get through KROX and Crookston Daily Times is immense.

Growing up in Crookston has left an insurmountable impact on me.  The people of this community make Crookston a great place to grow up.
