Investigators await autopsy, toxicology report; no sign of foul play at this point.

Crookston Police are investigating the death of a Crookston man who was found unresponsive late Saturday morning, Oct. 5 at his residence in downtown Crookston.


    The deceased is Douglas Spiegel, 41, who was a resident of 114.5 South Broadway.


    The CPD was dispatched to the scene at 11:26 a.m. Saturday on a report of an unresponsive male. Crookston Area Ambulance Service personnel also responded to the call. There, they found Spiegel, deceased.


    His body was sent to the University of North Dakota Medical Examiner’s Office in Grand Forks for an autopsy. CPD Chief Paul Biemaier said investigators are waiting for the final autopsy report and toxicology report, but that at this point there are no signs pointing to foul play that led to Spiegel’s death.
