Over 100 swimmers competed in each event.

Isaac Loegering, 18, of Crookston wrapped up the National YMCA Short Course Meet in Greensboro, N.C. this weekend by placing 34th in the 100-yard freestyle Saturday.

"In this event I've always struggled to swim the second half of this race as strong as the first half," said Loegering. "Taking off over a second in the 100 was a great way to end my high school swimming career."

On Wednesday, Loegering placed 24th in the 50-yard freestyle.

"I was happy to finally make finals. It has been my goal for the past three years," he told the Times.

He also competed in the 100-yard butterfly and 10-yard breaststroke but did not advance out of the time trials.

"Breaststroke isn't my strongest race, but I dropped two seconds and nearly broke our team record," Loegering explained.
