Thief River Falls defeated Crookston for the third time this season Thursday with an 87-77 win in Crookston. Each team had five players score in double figures.

Of the three meetings between the longtime rivals, the Pirates have closed the gap in each of them, losing by 26 on Dec. 29, losing by 17 on Jan. 18 and losing by ten points on Valentine's Day.

The Pirates were led in scoring by senior Alex Boone and sophomore Aaron Hollcraft as each scored 16 points. Senior Travis Vatthauer and sophomore Danny Davidson each added 13 points, while sophomore Ryan Porter had ten and senior Alec Boike scored seven.

Jacob Leier and Jacob Joppru led the Prowlers with 17 points each, while Nick Hoffard added 15 points, Nick Onkka scored 14 and Sam Olson had ten points.

Thief River Falls led 43-36 going into halftime and outscored Crookston 44-41 in the second half.

The loss drops the Pirates to 11-11 on the season. Next up, they will host Fertile-Beltrami Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
