He has served with the Guard for 36 years.

The commander of a North Dakota National Guard training center is retiring.

Col. Dave Rickford has been in charge of the Camp Grafton Training Center for the last two years. He has served with the Guard for 36 years.

Prior to taking over duties at the camp, Rickford served as director of operations and training, director of manpower and personnel, and mobilization readiness officer.

Camp Grafton has multiple training operations, including cook school, demolition ranges and weapons qualification ranges. The facility has several devices, simulators and other systems to help prepare guard members for duty.

A retirement ceremony for Rickford is planned for Friday at 3 p.m. at the camp's Military Service Club.
