UMN Crookston International Dinner event returns March 27

University of Minnesota Crookston’s long standing traditional International Dinner event will return Monday, March 27, 2023. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. in Bede Ballroom and will feature presentations from international students, Madeleine “Maddi” Schneider of Germany, and Norden Bista of Nepal. Food served will include German appetizers and dessert, and a Nepalese main entrée.

The Brown Creeper

I have always been drawn to so-called secretive species of wild birds. This group of birds is characterized as birds more often heard than seen, tending to occur in dense habitats, and are otherwise shy in behavior. A suite of other characteristics can apply, too: cryptic plumage patterns, sometimes small in body size, rare in numbers, and so on. One such bird that fits the bill here in Minnesota’s forests and woodlands is the diminutive brown creeper.

A season to remember

A 17-win for the Crookston High School girl’s hockey team came to an end in February but excitement is building for a program on the rise. The Pirates set their sights on a state tournament appearance and fell one game short of that goal, but head coach Emily Meyer praised the efforts of her team.
