Gene “Geno” Alan Whitehead, 61, of rural Red Lake Falls passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023. Geno’s life will be celebrated at a 1 p.m. memorial service to be held Monday, February 27, 2023, at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, with The Rev. Matthew Meyer officiating. Visitation with the family will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date.

Minnesota Crookston Soccer Announces Signing of Mantorville Midfielder Bebee

The University of Minnesota Crookston announced the signing of Caitlin Bebee (MF, 5-8, Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville H.S.) to a National Letter of Intent. Bebee is the fourth signee for the Golden Eagles. She joins Megan McGraw (F, 5-4, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee H.S.), Marsia Green (F, 5-10, Waconia, Minn./Mayer Lutheran H.S.), and Madison Lein (D, 5-4, Bismarck, N.D./Legacy H.S.).

Minnesota Crookston Baseball Takes First Game of Doubleheader with 21-13 Win Over Sharks

The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team scored 21 runs in a slugfest in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader with the Hawai'i Pacific University Sharks. Minnesota Crookston edged Hawai’i Pacific 21-13. A combined 34 runs were scored in the game. The Golden Eagles have not scored over 20 runs since a 23-6 victory over Bemidji State University March 6, 2021.

Golden Eagle Baseball Edged in Season-Opening Doubleheader in Hawai’i

WAIPAHU, Hawai’i - The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team opened the season with a pair of losses at Hawai'i Pacific University at Central Oahu Regional Park in Waipahu, Hawai'i. The Golden Eagles posed a ninth inning rally in the first game with four runs, but fell short in a 8-6 loss. In the second game of the doubleheader, the Sharks were trailing 7-2 going into the bottom of the sixth, but scored five runs to force extra innings. Hawai'i Pacific toppled the Golden Eagles in the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off single by Noah Hata to win 9-8.

Lake Agassiz Regional Library to Close February 20 for Presidents’ Day

All Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL) branches and LINK sites will be closed on Monday, February 20 in observance of Presidents' Day, with regular hours of operation resuming Tuesday, February 21. LARL’s branch libraries are located in Ada, Bagley, Barnesville, Breckenridge, Climax, Crookston, Detroit Lakes, Fertile, Fosston, Hawley, Mahnomen, McIntosh and Moorhead.
