It is with regret that CherryRoad Media announces the closing of The Crookston Times

Our company is dedicated to the preservation of community journalism. Since the purchase of our 1st paper in late-2020 to today, we have prided ourselves on our ability to fight the difficult battle that newspapers face in today’s digital society. Unfortunately, that battle cannot always be won.

The Crookston Times has struggled in recent years to find its footing in this community. Since purchasing The Crookston Times, CherryRoad Media has been unable to avoid financial losses every month. The paper was losing money when we bought it, and it continued to do so. We must now come to terms with the fact that we do not have a path forward to sustainability.

And we thank those who have supported us.

Huska Scores Two Goals, Including Overtime Winner as Golden Eagles Topple St. John’s

It took overtime, but Minnesota Crookston was able to hold off a late charge from St. John’s University on Saturday afternoon at the Crookston Sports Center. Jake Huska (Jr., D, Snow Lake, Manitoba) found the back of the net 1:44 into overtime for the 5-4 win over the Johnnies.

CHS Speech team competes at Fergus Falls

The CHS Speech team kicked off their tournament season by competing at Fergus Falls this past Saturday. Crookston was one of seventeen schools competing at the tournament, and three students walked away with medals. Samantha Rezac took first place in Storytelling, Zac Plante advanced to honors finals and took second place in Humorous Interpretation with his script 'How to Succeed In High School Without Really Trying', and Shayla Azure advanced to honors finals and took fifth place in Humorous Interpretation with her script '1-800'.

Cathedral is out of this world because we get to learn things about God! On Wednesdays we get to go to Mass and listen to the reading and we also get to serve at mass. We get to do morning prayer on Monday and Fridays in the morning.
