Greater Minnesota watching for confirmation of the “One Minnesota”message

With the dust from the recent election beginning to settle, members of the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) gathered in Alexandria last week to evaluate the results and their potential impact on Greater Minnesota priorities at the legislature in 2023. Much of the discussion revolved around the DFL securing a “trifecta,” winning both chambers of the legislature and the Governor’s office, and what it could mean given the predominance of metro-based legislators amongst their ranks.

“What was happening at home, while you were in Panama?” While Congress and the Army Corps of Engineers workforce were tied down in Panama, big things were happening back home. From the formation of workers’ unions, and eventual at-traction of some of them to the Soviet Union, to the founding of the NAACP to the 16th Amendment and the tax on personal income, there were developments back home that were equally negative and positive as the “dig” through the isthmus.
