MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO NOMINATED FOR TWO UPPER MIDWEST EMMY® AWARDS

Winners will be announced by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Upper Midwest Chapter on Oct. 15 The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Upper Midwest Chapter has announced that Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) has been nominated for two Upper Midwest Emmy awards for The Current’s “Minnesota Sessions” video series. The winners will be announced at the 23rd annual NATAS Upper Midwest Chapter Emmy awards gala on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Radisson Blu Mall of America.

Staying safe on cold water is everyone’s responsibility

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reminds anyone whose autumn plans include spending time on or around the water to keep safety in mind. While more boating-related accidents happen during the summer, boating fatalities are higher during the cold-water season. As water temperatures drop, water- based activities become riskier. A fall into a cold lake, pond or river can result in even a strong swimmer becoming incapacitated quickly. Further, cries for help can go unheard and rescues can take longer than in the warm-weather months when more people are on or near the water.

Voting in the North Country

Once again, it’s election season across the country. The general election will be held on Nov. 8, 2022. Here in northwest Minnesota, we have a lot to consider before we go vote. You have questions like: How do I register to vote? When do I vote? and What am I going to see on the ballot? Wherever you are in the state of Minnesota, the go-to place for the most accurate information is (ahem) not Facebook or TikTok. IDENTIFY YOUR POISON

Deuteronomy 32:32 “For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, And of the fields of Gomorrah: Their grapes are grapes of poison, bitter are their clusters.” We are told without doubt in Romans 3: 23, “All have sinned.” The scripture continually reminds us of how weak and susceptible we are. And, of course, other humans never fail to remind us of our short comings and forget their own.
