First In-Person NAMIWalks in Two Years to Raise Awareness About Mental Illnesses

Submitted The 16th annual NAMIWalks Minnesota, a 5K walk to raise awareness about mental illnesses and celebrate hope, is set for Saturday, September 24, at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis. NAMIWalks supports the efforts of NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to provide education, support, and advocacy for children and adults with mental illnesses and their families.

Northwest Minnesota COC Opens Annual RFP For Projects Aimed at Addressing Homelessness throughout the Region

Submitted August 8th, 2022 (Bemidji, MN) – The Northwest Minnesota Continuum of Care is now accepting applications for the 2022 annual Notice of Funding Opportunity for the CoC Program Competition, as well as the 2022 Supplemental Notice of Funding Opportunity to Address Rural and Unsheltered Homelessness. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, governmental entities, and public housing agencies with projects aimed at addressing homelessness in the region.

Polk County Federal Disaster Applicant Briefing Meeting

Polk County Emergency Manager As a result of severe storms, straight-line winds, and flooding during the period of April 22 to June 15, 2022, Polk County has been included in Federal Disaster Declaration number 4659 for the Public Assistance and the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Program. An Applicant Briefing Meeting has been scheduled for all local government and public entities claiming to have any types of emergency protective measures, debris removal, damages to public roads, bridges, water control facilities, buildings, equipment, and utilities during this time frame.

Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths Program Partners Recognize National Stop on Red Week

Sheriff Jim Tadman Polk County, a Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths partner, is taking a stand against red light running, ignoring stop signs, and failing to yield at intersections by promoting safe driving habits during National Stop on Red Week, August 7-13. The focus of Stop on Red Week is to educate drivers about improving driving behaviors at intersections and how to reduce severe, life-changing crashes at intersections.

DCDP to Host Listening and Input Session

The Ward 4 Board of Directors and the Downtown Crookston Development Partnership (DCDP) will host a listening and input session for all residents of Ward 4, downtown business owners and residents and Crookston community. All are invited to participate and comment. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church dining room from 7-8 pm.
