Libraries in Crookston and Fertile to Host Pint Size Polka Musical Programs for Children

Local libraries are inviting audiences of all ages to go under the sea with accordion player Mike Schneider in an ocean-themed polka-palooza! Polka enthusiasts will enjoy clapping and singing along to the music in this interactive program which will also include magic, comedy and trivia. These programs are geared toward children ages 6-11 and will last approximately 45 minutes.

Crookston Police Department accident report

An accident was reported June 7 at 10:57 p.m. at the 1400 block of North Front Street where it was discovered that a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Seth Volker of Crookston, had rear-ended a 2017 Ford transit van, legally parked, owned by Absolute Refrigeration/Michael Parkin of Crookston. The initial collision then caused the transit van to push into a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, legally parked, owned by Michael Parkin of Crookston.

Genevieve Maxine Bruley

Genevieve Maxine Bruley, 92, passed away on Wednesday evening, November 24, 2021, in her longtime Crookston home, while comforted by her son, Gary, who was at her side. Genevieve was born at Warren on February 25, 1929, the 12th of 13 children of the union of Everett and Nellie (Byrn) Taylor.

Linda Ardell Johnson

Linda Ardell Johnson, 75, of Crookston, MN, passed away at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND early Tuesday morning, June 7, 2022, with her loving family at her side. The funeral service for Linda will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crookston with Pastor Jeff Brown, officiating. Visitation will at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-7:00pm, with a prayer service at 7pm, and will continue at the church for one hour prior to the funeral. The services will be live streamed by going to Linda’s obituary page at www.stenshoelhouske.com and clicking on the prompt to view. A graveside service will take place at 4:30pm at the Bethany Lutheran North Cemetery, near East Grand Forks, MN, Wednesday afternoon at 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers it was Linda’s wish that memorials be given to a local Humane Society or animal rescue facility of choice.

Betty Ann Johnson

Betty Ann Johnson, 94, a longtime resident of Crookston passed away April 6, 2022 with her loving family at her side. Betty Ann was born September 12, 1927 in Aneta, N.D., one of three children from the marriage of Melvin “Mike” Tangen and Paula (Thorson) Tangen.

Crookston Public Schools to Hold Community Meeting Discussing Athletic Field Referendum

Crookston Public Schools is holding community meetings to educate and answer questions regarding a referendum to construct a multiuse facility for the school district and community. The next meeting will be Wednesday, June 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Crookston High School Auditorium. All are welcome and encouraged to participate.
