Studio 110/In Progress Red Carpet Event June 11 at the Grand Theatre celebrates local award-winning artists

We want to invite the Crookston and surrounding communities to join us in celebrating three local artists and their award-winning films at the 17th Annual MY HERO International Film Festival. The free event will be held at the The Grand Theatre in Crookston on June 11, 2022.

Wilmer Sevigny

Wilmer Sevigny, 89, of Crookston passed away on May 16, 2022, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D. Wilmer was born on August 1, 1932, to Leon and Clara (Dumas) Sevigny in Oakwood, N.D. Wilmer grew up near Oakwood and graduated from St. Aloysius Academy. He later moved to Erskine to farm with his parents.

Sister Agatha Hermann

Sister Agatha Hermann (93) died May 18, 2022, at Villa Saint Vincent in Crookston. She was the fourth child in a family of five. She was born July 1, 1928, on a farm near Georgetown, MN, and was baptized Angela. Angela was the third person in her family to pursue religious life since two of her sisters entered Mount Saint Benedict in Crookston before she did.

Donna Jean Kuhn

Donna Jean Kuhn of Eden Prairie, affectionately known by her four generations of nieces and nephews as “Aunt Jeannie”, passed from this earth to be with her Lord on the evening of Thursday, March 17, 2022. Jean died peacefully with the caring staff of Rushseba Senior Living of Rush City and St. Croix Hospice at her bedside. Jean was surrounded by prayer and song and the presence of family throughout the day.

Harley O. Bruun

Harley, 90, died February 22, 2022 at his home in N. St. Paul. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 28 at Sand Hill Lutheran Church in rural Climax. Visitation starts at 10 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. A light lunch will be served following the burial. Please make memorials to the Sand Hill Lutheran Church cemetery fund.

CHEDA news: AIC road design, Chickadee Coffee litigation, B3 grant approvals

Crookston Housing & Economic Development Authority (CHEDA) board of directors discussed and took action on a number of items at their May 17 meeting including approving reimbursement to the city for the design of the road near the upcoming Ag Innovation Campus (AIC), commencing with litigation against Chickadee Coffee owner Jerry Snow, approving two B3 grants, approving of a public hearing for the sale of 1603 Hoven Lane and approving of a public hearing for the sale of a parcel in the industrial park, plus they approved of advertising for a new executive director and discussed the process for how the board approves bill payments.
