Polk County Soybean/Corn Growers celebrate ag and soy months with donations to area schools

The Polk County Soybean and Corn Growers and their checkoff dollars are supporting their schools by promoting agriculture with donations of books and school supplies. The growers donated agricultural educational books to elementary schools in Crookston, East Grand Forks, Mentor, Fosston, Fertile and Fisher.

Child Care Aware Northwest celebrates Provider Appreciation Day on May 6

Child Care Aware Northwest will join community organizations across the country in observing Provider Appreciation Day® on May 6 to celebrate the efforts of local child care providers. “Friday, May 6, as well as any given day really, is a great day to show your appreciation to the early childhood educators in your life,” said Maria Steen, Child Care Aware Northwest District Coordinator.

School Board news and notes: Safe school signage on Fisher/Central to get enhancement; 2022-23 academic calendar changes approved

- Crookston School Board approved the purchase of Safe Schools Zone signage for Fisher Avenue and Central Avenue at their March meeting as the district has been working with the City of Crookston and Polk County to add flashing lights on a timer to help indicate when speed zones are enforceable. Superintendent Jeremy Olson said he has received commitment from the city and county to pay for half of the project and sought $8,000 from the school board.
