Northland Community & Technical College to host community open house April 27

Northland will open its doors to the community for an expansive open house on Wednesday, April 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. on the East Grand Forks campus. This oneof-a-kind event will allow community members to explore the magnitude of what Northland offers in educational opportunities, workforce development, and industry partnerships.

Polk County Social Services, Victim’s Services team up for Child Abuse Awareness Month

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and the staff from Polk County’s Child Protection Services and Polk County Attorney’s Office Victim’s Services teamed up to help bring awareness to the volume of children experiencing maltreatment in the community. Volunteer Water Monitors needed to help state track water quality in Crookston area

As spring arrives in Minnesota, it’s time for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) to kick off its popular program that relies on Minnesota residents to help monitor the state’s 12,000+ lakes and 92,000+ miles of streams. The MPCA is now recruiting volunteers to measure water clarity in numerous lakes and streams – including several high-priority sites in the Crookston area – and then report back to the agency. This is the perfect opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts and those interested in helping protect our state’s natural resources.

Crookston Community Pool reopening April 20 after imbalance, leak shut down

Crookston Community Pool will be reopened to the public April 20 after a two-week shut down caused by a chemical imbalance and leaky pipe. The pool's Facebook page stated April 18 that they were working on getting the pool up to its normal temperature after getting the chemicals balanced and that the water was only at 50 degrees which meant it couldn't reopen a day earlier as previously planned.
