UMN Crookston Kiehle Murals ‘The rest of the Story’

My name is Allan Dragseth and I am a 1957 graduate of the NWSA. I am writing this in rebuttal to the article by John Hoffman in the November 17th Crookston Times from UMC concerning the “racist murals” in Kiehle Auditorium. The “Cancel Culture” is live and well at UMC. By this I mean the movement that has become popular recently where if you don’t like what someone once did or said, you tear down their statue or remove their name. Mr Hoffman is using a form of the Critical Race Theory where by you try to shame the white European race for what our ancestors supposedly did many years ago.

An egotist has I trouble

Jim Tunney, the dean of National Football League referees, wrote a blog recently that caught my eye. He mentioned how when one NFL defensive player intercepts a pass, most of the defensive unit on the field runs to an end zone for a photo op. These players and many others feel the defensive unit is just taking pride in making a big play.

Men’s basketball makes crucial plays

The University of Minnesota Crookston men’s basketball team came away with crucial stops and big baskets down the stretch to take down Concordia University, St. Paul 77-72 Friday, January 14 at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn. The Golden Eagles scored 11 of the final 14 points in the final 4:29 of the game to come away with the win and snap a nine-game losing streak. Minnesota Crookston turned defense into offense down the stretch as they had key stops and three crucial steals turned into points in the final six minutes of the game.
