It’s that time of year again – for the annual Youth Sportsman Day at the Crookston Gun Club, open to boys and girls ages 6 to 18. The sixth annual event will offer numerous fun, free shooting activities on Sunday, Sept. 12, from 12:30 to 5 p.m., with registration at noon. Parents are  encouraged to stay to learn and have fun with the kids. Call Bill Kresl at 281-5805 to reserve a spot. The first 175 registrants will receive a free t-shirt.

Two new events have been added this year: a sporting clays station and a 22 cal. moving targets shooting gallery. Other activities include target archery, trap target shoot, target shooting with Ruger Charger pistol, laser shot education training, .22 target shooting at silhouettes and spinning targets, BB or Gamo pellet gun targets for young tikes and a 4-H Shooting Sports presentation. Coke products and a meal will be served, with many door prizes and other freebies given away all afternoon. Drawings for a limited edition NWTF mountain bike and youth shotgun will be held at the end of the day.

The event will be held rain or shine. Sponsors include National Wild Turkey Federation-Team Camo, West Polk County Deer Hunters Association, Crookston Gun Club, Coca Cola, Cabela’s, Scheels, Titan Machinery, Crookston Visitor’s Bureau and Fisher American Legion.

The Crookston Gun Club is located one mile north of UMC on Highway 75 and 1/2 mile west.
