An early morning head-on collision on U.S. Highway 2 west of Fisher has left a Crookston woman dead.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Darcey Jablonski, 39, of Crookston, was eastbound on Highway 2, near mile marker 13, driving a 2005 Pontiac G6 Sedan at about 2:15 a.m. when she encountered a 1994 Ford extended cab pick-up that was stopped facing in the eastbound lane. She struck the pick-up, driven by Daniel Johnson, address unknown, head-on.
Weather conditions at the time were foggy, with very limited visibility.
Jablonski was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol was detected on Johnson, but not Jablonski.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the East Grand Forks Police Department assisted at the scene.
