Boys' basketball: Delage helps Pirates steal wins from EGF and Frazee

The Pirates grabbed a pair of wins Friday and Saturday in two tightly contested games. On Friday in Crookston, the Pirates held onto a halftime lead and beat East Grand Forks, a Class 3A team, 48-44. On Saturday in Moorhead at Concordia College, the Pirates edged Frazee 56-55.

The two wins boost Crookston's season record to 6-5. The win over Frazee improves Crookston's record against Section 8AA opponents to 3-3.

Junior guard Brett Delage led the Pirates in scoring both nights with 23 Friday and 21 Saturday. He hit six of Crookston's eight three pointers in Saturday's game.

EGF vs. CHS
Crookston led 26-23 at the half and outscored the Green Wave 22-21 in the second half for the four-point victory.

Backing up Delage's 23 was freshman Aaron Hollcraft with 15 points and seniors Ross Forney and Aaron Remick each with four.

Mike Kinzler and Jim Warmack each led East Grand Forks with 11 points.

Frazee vs. CHS
Crookston held a 31-29 lead at halftime and Frazee outscored the Pirates 26-25 in the second half, falling a point short.

The Frazee Hornets led 55-54 with 25 seconds left and Forney missed an open three but was fouled and went to the line with three attempts. He missed the first but made the next two for a 56-55 lead with about six seconds left and the Pirates held on for the win.

Adding to Delage's 21 points was Forney with 12 and junior Alec Boike and Remick each with six.

Daniel Janu led Frazee with 24 points.

The Pirates will face Section 8AA North rival Warroad Tuesday. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. The Warriors at 4-6 this season and 3-1 in the section.
