Crookston ends their season with a record of 4-11-2.

    Crookston and East Grand Forks traded goals for the first 75 percent of the match in the first round of the Section 8A Tournament. The Pirates cut the deficit to one with 24 minutes to go, but could not deliver the equalizer and lost 4-3 to East Side to conclude the season.

    The Green Wave grabbed a quick lead five minutes into the game and Ben Andringa (Jr. MF) tied the score in the 25th minute assisted by Sam Overgaard (Sr. MF).

    Shots on goal favored East Side 15-7 in the match and it paid off when the Green Wave sent two balls to the back of the net two minutes apart to take a 3-1 lead.

    After halftime, Andringa took a pass from Mason LaPlante (Sr. F) and tallied his second goal of the match and his third of the season.

    Just under a minute later, EGF doubled their lead and with every passing minute, Crookston’s chances became more and more slim.

    In the 57th minute, Jacob Brunelle (Jr. MF) gave the Pirates hope with his team-leading sixth goal of the year to make the score 4-3. Ben Brantner (Jr. D) received credit for the assist.

    Logan Wardner (Sr. GK) kept East Side off the board for the final 36-plus minutes, but Crookston could not manage and equalizing score. Wardner totaled 11 saves on the day giving him 146 this year.

    Crookston ends their season with a record of 4-11-2 and says goodbye to nine seniors.
