In fields of mid-20s, the Pirates saw eight top-ten finishes.
Although the true team meet rewards team depth, the Crookston Pirates took their seven swimmers to the Section 8A True Team meet with the same mentality as any other meet: improve individual results. Crookston placed seventh out of seven as a team, but brought home eight top-ten finishes along with season-best times.
Thea Oman (Sr.) performed well in her two individual races winning the 100 yard freestyle (57.81) and taking the runner-up in the 200 yard freestyle (2:06.93). Both times set new personal season lows.
Madison Hoiland (Fr.) also beat her previous set times in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard breaststroke. Hoiland’s 27.61 in the freestyle gave her seventh place and the time of 1:17.72 in the breaststroke earned her fourth.
Also placing in the top ten twice was Elizabeth Erdman (Jr.). Erdman took seventh in the 100 yard butterfly (1:11.86) and ninth in the 500 yard freestyle (6:12.49).
Crookston’s relays both placed in the upper echelon. The 200 yard medley relay of Thea Oman, Hoiland, Erdman and Claire Oman placed fourth with a time of 2:09.84 and the same group set a season-best time in the 200 yard freestyle finishing in 1:52.56 and placing fifth.
