Kylee Meier played all 80 minutes in the net and recorded 16 saves.

Kylee Meier (Jr. GK) stopped 16 shots, but East Grand Forks scored four in the first half and five in the second half to beat the Pirates 9-0.

The Green Wave put the pressure on early and often scoring their first two goals in the opening nine minutes. East Side added goals three and four at 15’ and 16’ to double their lead, but Crookston (0-5-1) kept EGF off the board for the last 19 minutes of half one.

“Much of the play was in the middle,” Head Coach Sarah Reese said. “[The] last 20 minutes of the first half and last 10 minutes of the game we played excellent.”

The offense of East Side stayed strong after the intermission as they spaced out their final four goals across 21 minutes.

Reese understood the level of play the Green Wave would bring and complimented her team on fighting through all 80 minutes.

“I’m proud of the girls for not giving up and playing with confidence,” Reese said. “[The Green Wave] were on and couldn’t miss and we had to focus on defending.”

Three games await Crookston before the week ends with the first serving as a home match against Grand Rapids on Friday, September 14 at 5 p.m.
