Crookston earned their first victory of the season by beating Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.
Fresh off a match in which the Pirates scored four in the second half, but lost to Fergus Falls Hillcrest, Crookston one-upped themselves on offense in a 6-0 win over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley. Eric Delorme (Sr. MF) put together a hat trick performance and Jake Anderson (Sr. MF) scored twice to help the Pirates (1-4) to their first win of the season.
Neither team struck for the first 17 minutes, until Delorme fired his first goal of the season to the back of the net with an assist from Mason LaPlante (Sr. F). Three minutes later, Anderson recorded his first goal of 2018 to double the lead. Sam Overgaard (Sr. MF) earned credit for the assist.
Crookston led at halftime 2-0, but the match did not stay close for long as the Pirates doubled their offense in the second half.
Delorme led off half number two with his second goal of the game assisted by Overgaard in minute 50. Brock Heppner (Sr. MF) set up Anderson for his second goal of the game two minutes later and Crookston owned a 4-0 advantage.
Jacob Brunelle (Jr. MF) scored for the second time in as many games with the help of Delorme in the 70th minute and Delorme completed his hat trick assisted by Noah Dragseth (So. D) with six seconds to play in the match. Shortly after, the Pirates celebrated the 6-0 victory.
In the net, Casey Tiedemann (Sr. GK) played all 80 minutes and stopped nine shots.
The Pirates will make one more stop as a part of their four game road trip in Pelican Rapids on Tuesday, September 11.
