The junior ran a 5K in 18:45 to win gold.

Katherine Geist (Jr.) qualified for the Cross Country State Meet last season and has not appeared to have missed a beat. In a competition in Roseau, Geist separated herself from the pack and brought home a first place medal.

Geist, who runs as a Pirate with the East Grand Forks team, finished in 18:45 which inspired her coach, Kirk Misialek to simply say, "Outstanding. She is a force to be reckoned with in Class A or AA."

Emily Gillette, another Pirate, placed 25th with a time of 25:46.
