Crookston improves to 18-13 on the season and won 11 of their last 13.
The Crookston Reds (18-13) scored 10 runs in the final five innings to down the Thief River Falls Bombers 11-3. Bailey Schmitz drove in four and scored once while Noah Zimmerman knocked in two and scored three times to lead the offense. Will Zimmerman also crossed home plate three times. Dave Grabowski collected a pair of RBIs and Matt Morin tallied one RBI.
Sean Minder picked up the win pitching seven innings of one-run ball and Blake Kawlewski tossed the last two innings.
The Reds and Bombers remained deadlocked throughout four innings until Noah Zimmerman’s single scored Jackson Seibel for a 2-1 lead. RBI hits by Schmitz, Grabowski and Morin extended the lead to 6-1. After two runs by the Reds in the seventh inning, Thief River Falls crept closer with two runs of their own to make the score 8-3. Crookston responded by removing all doubt with three runs including a triple from Noah Zimmerman and a double from Grabowski.
The Reds, winners of 11 of their last 13, will look to extend their season-high winning streak to six when they travel to Ada on Monday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. for a matchup against the A’s. The game serves as the third of the season between the two teams. Ada leads the season series 2-0.
