Crookston swept Warroad after losing the weekend opener to Marble.

    Crookston played one game against the Marble Mallards and three against the Warroad Muskies in Warroad on Saturday and Sunday, July 14-15. The Reds (16-13) lost 13-6 to Marble, but swept Warroad outscoring them 31-16 in the three contests. Crookston dropped the game to Marble 13-6 and beat Warroad 6-1, 13-9 and 12-6.

    In the 13-9 win, the Reds trailed 8-3 and scored six runs in the sixth inning to take a one-run lead. Warroad knotted the game in the seventh, but Crookston responded with a four spot in the eighth and went on to win the extra-inning affair.

    Will Zimmerman led the offense with six hits, two home runs and eight RBIs over the weekend including a four-RBI game in the finale on Sunday. In the 13-9 contest, Noah Zimmerman and Bailey Schmitz collected three RBIs, combined for six hits and each scored two runs.

    Sean Minder pitched the entirety of the final three games winning all three. Minder threw 22 innings allowing ten earned runs and struck out 30 in those three games. The weekend of games capped off a stretch of six games in five days in which Crookston went 4-2.

    The Reds have won nine of their last 11 and return home on Wednesday, July 18 to take on the Moorhead Miners at 8 p.m.
