The Golden Eagles have signed Madison Kostelecky (1B, 5-6, Bismarck, N.D.), Allison Martinson (C/3B, 5-5, Grafton, N.D.), and Malia Pula (UT, 5-4, Gilroy, Calif./West Valley College).

    The University of Minnesota Crookston softball program announced the signing of three student-athletes in the late signing period. The Golden Eagles have signed Madison Kostelecky (1B, 5-6, Bismarck, N.D.), Allison Martinson (C/3B, 5-5, Grafton, N.D.), and Malia Pula (UT, 5-4, Gilroy, Calif./West Valley College).

    The trio of signees join three signees from the early signing period to give Minnesota Crookston six newcomers heading into the 2019 season. The Golden Eagles had previously signed Leah Macias (OF, 5-2, West Covina, Calif./South Hills H.S.), Hannah Macias (OF, 5-2, West Covina, Calif./South Hills H.S.), and Darian Pancirov (RHP/1B, 5-10, Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman H.S.).

    Pula, Martinson and Kostelecky give the Golden Eagles versatility, primarily at the infield positions as they head into the 2019 campaign.

    The Golden Eagles are coming off a 6-40 (2-22 NSIC) mark in 2017. Minnesota Crookston will look to improve heading into the 2018 season. The previous season the Golden Eagles tied their school record for wins with 12 victories in 2016.

    Minnesota Crookston hit .280 on the season with 159 runs, 61 doubles, six triples, 10 home runs and 129 RBIs. The Golden Eagles had a 5.27 ERA in 298.2 innings pitched with 118 strikeouts and 126 walks.

    Madison Kostelecky (1B, 5-6, Bismarck, N.D./Century H.S.)

    Kostelecky was an All-WDA First Team selection at Bismarck Century H.S. She hit .507 in 2017 with 25 runs, 14 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs and 37 RBIs. Kostelecky is set to play in the 2018 North Dakota Scheels All-Star softball series along with fellow signee Allison Martinson. She earned the President’s Award for Educational Excellence. Kostelecky played club softball for the Bismarck Rockets.

    Kostelecky was born May 2, 2000. She is undecided on her major. Kostelecky is the daughter of Heather and Joel Kostelecky. Her aunt Eve Kostelecky played volleyball at University of Mary.

Allison Martinson (C/3B, 5-5, Grafton, N.D./Grafton H.S.)

    Martinson has played club softball for the FM Blaze. She also competed in girl’s hockey. Martison is a Merit Scholarship Recipient. She was a member of National Honor Society.

    Martinson is the daughter of Brad and Liz Martinson. She plans to major in exercise science and wellness. She was born Nov. 11, 1999. She also earned the Merriam Legacy Scholarship and the Dowell Scholarship.

Malia Pula (UT, 5-4, Gilroy, Calif./West Valley College)

    Pula comes from West Valley College, which also produced former Golden Eagle player Khailyn Neumayer. Pula hit .370 as a sophomore with eight home runs and 29 RBIs with 23 runs scored and four stolen bases. As a freshman, she hit .308 with three home runs, 24 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Pula notched six doubles in her freshman season. An All-Conference selection for the CCCAA, while at West Valley College. She competed as a prep at Evergreen Valley H.S. She earned First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention honors for the Blossom Valley Athletic League during her high school career. She was named Senior of the Year in the BVAL. Pula was voted as the Best Offensive Player for West Valley College as a sophomore.

    Pula is the daughter of Talitiga and Veronica Pula. She was born Dec. 10, 1997. Pula plans to major in elementary education. Her cousin Nick Pula played football at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. Pula loves visiting Disneyland. Her favorite movie of all-time is Monsters University.
