This year’s event raised some $19,000 for Golden Eagle student-athletes.
An evening of silent auctions, games of chance, and more were all a part of raising money for scholarships for student athletes at the University of Minnesota Crookston. More than 135 people attended the annual Teambacker Fun Nite held at the Crookston Eagles Club and hosted by UMC Teambackers. This year’s event raised some $19,000 for Golden Eagle student-athletes.
In addition to fundraising in support of scholarships at University of Minnesota Crookston, Fun Nite is also a time to recognize the Teambacker of the Year. Annette Thompson was named this year’s Teambacker of the Year for her leadership and her efforts to promote UMC Teambackers. Thompson serves as the organization’s president.
The mission of Teambackers today remains essentially unchanged from those early years. It continues to promote athletics and to raise money for scholarships and works in conjunction with the UMC Development Office, the Athletic Department, and the University of Minnesota Foundation. UMC is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Opportunities to support student athletes continue with the summer golf tournaments. Play in the Mark Olsonawski Golf Tournament in Hallock, Minn., on Thursday, June 14 and the Teambacker Golf Classic on Friday, July 20 in Crookston. To learn more, visit www.goldeneaglesports.com/teambackers.
