The Golden Eagles fell to Mankato and Southwest Minnesota State 9-0.

LAKEVILLE, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team concluded the season with a pair of matches Fri., April 6 and Sat., April 7. The Golden Eagles fell 9-0 to Minnesota State University-Mankato Friday in Minnetonka, Minn. Minnesota Crookston ended the season with a 9-0 loss to Southwest Minnesota State University Saturday in Lakeville, Minn. at Lifetime Fitness.

    UMC conclude the season with a 0-13 mark in Head Coach Krayton Nash’s first season with Minnesota Crookston. The Golden Eagles made strides all season long as every player continued to show improvement throughout the season. Minnesota State improves to 5-12 with the win. Southwest Minnesota State moved to 6-12 with the victory.

    In doubles against Minnesota State, the No. 1 pair of Whitney Erickson (Sr., Spring Valley, Minn.) and Reanne Erickson (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) fell 8-0 to Erin Streeter and Monika Ryan. At No. 2 doubles, Hanna Ruckheim (So., Parkers Prairie, Minn.) and Adrianna Tiede (So., LeCenter, Minn.) were upended 8-0 by Nina Risselman and Kylie DeWees. At the No. 3 slot, Karli Renney (Fr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and Hannah Zhao (Jr., Guangzhou, China) were defeated 8-0 by Valerie Bresnahan and Tyanna Washa.

    In singles, Reanne Erickson was competitive and took three games on the day, but fell 6-1, 6-2 to Ryan at the No. 2 spot. At the No. 3 spot, Tiede took a game but fell 6-0, 6-1 to DeWees. At No. 1 singles, Whitney Erickson fell 6-0, 6-0 to Streeter. At the No. 4 spot, Ruckheim was upended 6-0, 6-0 by Camila Ojeda. At No. 5 singles, Risselman of Minnesota State defeated Zhao, 6-0, 6-0. At the No. 6 spot, Ruckheim was upended 6-0, 6-0 by Madeline Muotka.

    On the second day of competition, Whitney Erickson and Reanne Erickson took Cora Delich and Gabby Tellijohn to the wire. They ultimately fell 8-5 at the No. 1 spot. Tiede and Ruckheim took a pair of games against Olivia Watzke and Paige Janka but fell 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. At the No. 3 slot, Zhao and Renney were defeated 8-0 by Hannah Starke and Gabby Potthoff.

    In singles, Whitney Erickson took three games against Tellijohn but was defeated 6-2, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Reanne Erickson was able to take a game but was upended by Delich 6-1, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, Tiede was able to take a game but was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Watzke. At No. 4 singles, Ruckheim took a game in the first set but was upended 6-1, 6-0 by Starke. At the No. 5 slot, Zhao fell 6-0 6-0 to Janka. At the No. 6 spot, Renney was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Jenna Gannott.
