The Golden Eagles competed in the first of two Las Vegas invites.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women’s golf team opened the spring portion of their 2017-18 schedule with an 11th place finish at the 2018 MJCA Collegiate Invite at Aliante Golf Course in North Las Vegas, Nev. March 9-10.

    The Golden Eagles carded an 801 as a team, nine strokes back of Chadron State College. Rocky Mountain College won the tournament with a team score of 647, besting Minnesota State University by two strokes. Ashley Bixby of Southwest Minnesota State University and Karen Valcarce of Westminster University tied for the individual title with scores of 153.

    Minnesota Crookston was led by Ashlee Humble (Sr., Rosemount, Minn.), who shot a 90 and an 82 to finish tied for 29th on the tournament. McKenzie Harris (Jr., Nevis, Minn.) turned in rounds of 100 and 96. Megan Ryan (Fr., Oconto, Wis.) finished with a 107 and 103. Natasha Maninga (Sr., Menahga, Minn.) finished 64th for the tournament, while Paige Weakley (So., Kearney, Mo.) made her college golf debut and finished 66th.

    The Golden Eagles will compete at the Winona State University Invite March 12-13 in Las Vegas, Nev.
