The Pirates win their second game of the year behind strong performances from Bailey Folkers and Kasey Cwikla.

    With a 1-1 record, Crookston rolled into Red Lake Falls who boasted a 4-0 record. What followed was a convincing 52-39 win by the Pirates in which senior guard Bailey Folkers and sophomore guard Kasey Cwikla scored 14 points each.    

    The Pirates played a close first half going into halftime clinging to a 25-24 lead. Crookston then went on to outscore Red Lake Falls 27-15 to improve to 2-1 and hand the Eagles their first loss of the season.    

    Also among the point leaders was eighth grade guard Hayden Winjum with eight. Junior forward Rachel Hefta notched six as did freshman guard Emma Borowicz who knocked down two threes. Junior guard Kylie Solheim added two and junior guard Hannah Emanuel and sophomore guard Gretchen Theis each put up one.    

    Crookston will look to extend their winning streak to three as they trek to Warroad on Friday, December 8. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
