Kate MacGregor qualified for the State Meet for the fifth straight year. This will be her third straight year competing in the 100 yard backstroke at state.

    The Crookston Pirates sent eight swimmers to Grand Rapids for the Section 8A Meet and Kate MacGregor won the 100 yard backstroke qualifying for her fifth straight trip to the State Swimming Meet.        

    Four swimmers made it to the finals: MacGregor, Merran Dingmann, Elizabeth Erdmann and Thea Oman. The group competed in the 400 yard freestyle relay and placed third in 3:51.37. The same relay team placed fifth in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:58.82.    

    In the 100 yard backstroke preliminaries, MacGregor finished in second by .27 seconds. For the finals, MacGregor came back and took first by .77 seconds with a time of 1:00.93 and will swim in the 100 backstroke at the state level for the third straight year.    

    MacGregor also finished third in the 100 yard butterfly in 1:01.74. Oman and Dingmann placed fourth in the 200 yard freestyle and the 200 individual medley respectively. Oman swam the freestyle in 2:05.57 and Dingmann finished the individual medley in 2:24:88. Oman also took seventh in the 50 yard freestyle and Dingmann finished in seventh for the 100 yard backstroke.    

    The relay of Claire Oman, MacKenzie Aamoth, Emma Borowicz and Madison Hoiland placed 10th in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Hoiland also took 12th in the 100 yard freestyle and 14th in the 100 yard breaststroke. 

    The state preliminaries will begin on Friday, November 17 at 12 p.m. and the finals will start the following day at the same time.
