Geist heads to state for the fourth straight year.

The student body and staff of Crookston High School wished Katherine Geist the best of luck as Geist walked throughout the halls Friday morning.

Last weekend, Geist qualified for the State Cross Country Meet. Geist ran in a field of 119 girls and came out in third place with a time of 21:17 in the snow.

The trip will be Geist’s fourth consecutive stint running at the state meet.

Geist spent the season running as an individual with East Grand Forks students as Crookston does not have a cross country team. The head coach of the Green Wave Kirk Misialek believes Geist can perform well at state on November 4.

“She has improved each and every year she has made the trip to St. Olaf and we hope this year is no exception,” Misialek said. “Katherine will need to run under 20:00.00 to do well in the big race on Saturday.  We have another week of training and she will be ready to go this weekend.”
