ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The University of Minnesota Crookston men’s golf team finished 20th at the 2017 Missouri Western Holiday Inn Express/Candlewood Suites Men’s Golf Central Region Invitational.
The Golden Eagles shot a 972 over the 54-hole tournament at St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo. Minnesota Crookston was 25 strokes behind Upper Iowa University.
Minnesota Crookston was led by Ethan Johnson (Jr., Roseau, Minn.), who shot rounds of 81, 78 and 80 to pace the Golden Eagles. Ricky Phillips (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.) carded a 79, 84 and 80 on the three-round tournament. Ben Koisti (Jr., Lake Norden, S.D.) turned in rounds of 80, 85 and 81 over the tournament. Connor Humble (Fr., Rosemount, Minn.) shot rounds of 81, 90 and 80 over three rounds. Eric Gullicks (Sr., Finley, N.D.) carded rounds of 90, 83 and 81.
Missouri Western State University tied for the team title with a team score of 878. They bested Central Missouri University by one stroke. Central Missouri’s John Bonaobra won the individual title with two rounds of 70 and one of 71. He bested Minnesota State University’s Bryce Thompson by three strokes after Thompson shot a 68 on Tuesday.
Minnesota Crookston has concluded the fall portion of their schedule. They will return to action during the spring season.
