A strong defensive showing was not enough to push the Pirates past Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.

    In the penultimate game of the season, the Pirates fell short to Walker-Hackensack-Akeley 2-0. In a game that remained scoreless for nearly the entire first half, the Pirates could not make offensive threats.   

    The first goal game with a minute to go in the first half and Walker-Hackensack-Akeley doubled their lead in the 67th minute.    

    Crookston platooned Luisa Bernia and Kylee Meier in the net and each recorded five saves.    

    “It was a highly winnable game,” Head Coach Sarah Reese said. “We had lots of shots, but couldn’t find the net.”   

    The Pirates, now 1-11-1, will head to Fergus Falls to close out their regular season. The game is on Monday, October 9 at 4 p.m.
