The Pirates of the Week are Emily Barrus, Sam Overgaard, Madison Hoiland, Brinna Egeland, Sophia Sanders and Rachel Hefta.
Emily Barrus - Sr.
Head Coach Mike Geffre says, “Emily has come into her own this year. After a slow start, Emily has played the middle half of the season tough. Emily has played a lot of tough opponents this year. We look for Emily to keep improving and having an impact on our tournament team.”
Sam Overgaard - Jr. M
Head Coach Don Cox says, “Sam has come on strong for us in the last couple of weeks. He’s fast and aggressive when it comes to getting after the ball. His height is a real advantage for us, especially when there’s a 50-50 lofted ball we’re trying to get. Sam’s able to keep outside lanes secure and is always there with our strikers on the attacks.”
Madison Hoiland - 8th
Assistant Coach Aly Bergstrom says, “Madi had a handful of great performances over the last few meets. She has been a key player in scoring points for the team in the 100 breaststroke by placing first or second during the last three competitions. She also impressed her coaches and herself with her new best time in the 50 freestyle of 27.81. Madi’s attitude around the team and the sport is positive and spunky. We are happy to have her in the pool this year and look forward to what the rest of the season has in store.”
Brinna Egeland - So. M
Sophia Sanders - So. D
Head Coach Sarah Reese says, “This dynamic duo has stepped up and played a sweeper stopper defensive combo with a strong sense of purpose and consistency on the field.”
Rachel Hefta - Jr. MH
Head Coach Ashley Stopa says, “She has been a solid underclassman at the middle spot. Rachel has been working very hard this season and constantly pushes herself to keep improving. This season she is a leader in both blocks and kills. At middle, she has been a go-to hitter and a consistent blocker.”
